During this period, Egypt was divided into several rival kingdoms, each with its own ruler. The kings of 17th dynasty ruled at Thebes, the capital of southern Egypt, but their power spread to other parts of the country, including the Nile Delta region. Despite the difficulties of this period, the kings of the 17th dynasty managed to maintain a certain political stability and to pursue important construction projects, such as the renovation of temples and monuments.
The 17th dynasty was followed by the 18th dynasty, which is considered one of the most glorious periods in ancient Egyptian history, marked by the unification of the country and the reign of famous pharaohs such as Thutmose III and Akhenaten.
