Intef I, also known as Intef I, was a pharaoh of the XI Dynasty Egyptian who reigned around 2125 to 2112 BC. J.-C. He is considered as one of the founders of the XI Dynasty and played a crucial role in the reunification of Egypt after the troubled times of the First Intermediate Period.
Rise to power
Intef I ascended the throne following his father, Mentuhotep I, who had founded the XIth dynasty. His accession to power marks the beginning of the effort to reunite Egypt, after a period of disorder and fragmentation during the First Intermediate Period.
