Qakarê Ibi was a pharaoh who reigned during the First Intermediate Period of Ancient Egypt, probably within the Eighth Dynasty. This era was marked by political and economic instability, and the pharaohs of the Eighth Dynasty struggled to maintain stable control over the whole country. Despite this, some archaeological discoveries testify to the existence of Qakarê Ibi and his reign.
Qakare Ibi's tomb at Saqqara
One of the most notable discoveries concerning Qakarê Ibi is his tomb, located in the necropolis of Saqqara. This tomb is of modest size and is decorated with a few bas-reliefs and inscriptions. The inscriptions reveal the name of Qakarê Ibi, as well as certain royal titles, thus confirming his status as pharaoh.
Archaeological and Egyptological studies
Egyptologists have studied the tomb of Qakarê Ibi to learn more about this little-known ruler. The inscriptions and decorative elements have been examined in detail, allowing a better understanding of aspects of his reign and of Egyptian society at that time. However, the information remains limited and does not allow us to draw a complete portrait of his life and his reign.
