Sekhemkare Amenemhat-Senbef, often simply referred to as Amenemhat Senbef, was a pharaoh of the Thirteenth Dynasty of Ancient Egypt. His reign, which probably took place in the middle of the XVIIIe century BC. J.-C., is poorly known due to the lack of historical sources and the period of unrest that characterized the XNUMXth dynasty.
Origins and accession to the throne
Little is known about the family origins and life of Amenemhat Senbef before his accession to the throne. It is possible that he was a member of the royal family of the XIIIth dynasty or that he was an usurper who took power after the death of a predecessor whose identity is uncertain. The unstable political context of the time makes it difficult to understand the circumstances surrounding his advent.
End of reign and legacy
The circumstances surrounding the end of Amenemhat Senbef's reign and his death remain unknown. As with other pharaohs of the XIIIth Dynasty, the succession is also obscure, with uncertainties about the identity of the pharaoh who succeeded him.
