Sobekhotep I is a pharaoh who is often overlooked due to the paucity of information available about him. Egyptologists do not agree on the exact duration of his reign, although it is generally accepted that he would have reigned during the 13th dynasty Egyptian.
Archaeological evidence
Archaeological evidence related to Sobekhotep I is scanty. Some sources report cylinder seals bearing his name, discovered in the Eastern Desert in Egypt. However, these isolated objects do not provide much information about the nature of his rule or his accomplishments.
Absence of a royal tomb
One of the reasons we know so little about Sobekhotep I is the absence of his royal tomb. Indeed, no burial attributed to this pharaoh has been discovered to date, making any in-depth investigation into his life and reign difficult.
