Taharqa is a pharaoh of the XXV Dynasty of Egypt who reigned in the XNUMXth century BC. Succeeding Shabataka, Taharqa comes from the royal family of Kush, located in the south of present-day Egypt. His reign is marked by significant advances in the political, military and cultural fields.

The end of Taharqa's reign
Taharqa's rule finally came to an end after a series of military defeats by the Assyrians. Assyrian forces, led by King Esarhaddon, invaded Egypt and successfully captured Memphis, The capital of the country. Taharqa was forced to retreat to Nubia, where he continued to rule as King of Kush. Despite these setbacks, Taharqa is considered one of the most important pharaohs of the XXV Dynasty of Egypt.
